Thislecturedemonstratesatechniquethatencouragestheartistto
pursuethree-hourfiguregesturestudiesin3D.These3Dgesture
'paintings'allowtheartisttoexperimentandavoidbeingconsumed
withthedetailworkordinarilyassociatedwiththemediumof3D.
Whileareferencephotographisusedforthepurposesofthelecture,
thetechniqueshavebeendevelopedunderthetimeconstraintsof
workinginfrontofalivemodel.Techniqueswillbedemonstrated
forthethreephasesofcreatingaquickstudy;modeling,texturing
andlightingusingZBrush,3DCoatandModo.Eachofthephaseswill
bebuiltfromthegroundup,andthepurposeofeachcomponentis
demonstrated.Thismethodologycaneasilyserveasafoundational
'underpaint'foramorepolished,realizedwork.Whentheunderpaint
issolid,morefinishedworkissolelyamatterofaddingadditional
layersandfillingindetails.
